Top five tips for working from home

Our top tips for working from home

With many of us now working from home during the coronavirus pandemic, it is important that a degree of structure is incorporated into your day to ensure the maximum benefit for both yourself and the organisation you work for. It is also crucial to keep safe and well, taking careful note of the latest government advice.

Here are our top five tips.

  1. Self-discipline
There will be numerous distractions when working from home –  a repair job, house cleaning or other members of the family with a different work schedule to you. It is important to stay focused and stick to your work schedule as much as possible – but don’t forget to put aside some time for fun and relaxation.
  2. Set targets
Have a list of achievements that need to be completed during the day. This can be done in so many different ways, such as a simple written list on paper that is ticked-off after each task is completed, or on a computer spread sheet. Completing each objective will deliver a great sense of achievement!
  3. Be creative
Set aside time for thinking about new ideas that can benefit both yourself and the organisation you work for. A great way of doing this is to take a break from your designated workplace, have a cuppa and a snack, and let the mind wander and develop creative ideas.
  4. Keep communicating
If you have work colleagues, then it is important that you keep in regular touch by phone, email, or by through the numerous internet communication mediums available. It is a productive way for bouncing ideas off each other, and also for ensuring everyone’s wellbeing.
  5. Take a break
Make sure you take regular breaks – and don’t forget to indulge yourself in a small treat every so often. At Prewett’s we have a fabulous range of Free From cookies, biscuits and snacks, which we guarantee will bring a bit of sparkle to your working day!
